A vast selection of craft beer and some damn good food! I couldn't be happier to finally have a place like this in the neighborhood. We tried the Amish Chips, delicious. The Bison Hothouse burger, phenomenal! The homemade Guacamole...average. My only real issue is that the prices are a bit high. $11.00 for a bottle of Delirium is insane, $15.00 is a lot for an average sized burger and small side even if it is a bison burger. This will be a once in a while place rather than a regular place thanks to the prices alone.

In it for the beer. If you know your game then this is right in the middle. Many flagship beers to go around, nothing you cant pick up near by yourself for a bit less then $6 a bottle. The food was menu is an ok layout with different burgers and some a la carte items, not much to eat if you want to snack on something without forking over $10. Quick bite and a beer midday just about sums up its use. C+

During a Friday lunch break, five of us visited Declan's for lunch and had some great burgers, reasonably priced craft beer and enjoyed super-friendly service. It's a bit of a drive from our work place but we all agreed it was worth it. We'll be back!

We've been going to DeClan's since they opened a little over a year ago, we love this place! They're burgers are outstanding, love the way Chef Carlos does a Burger of the month, it's always delicious and beautiful as well! The beer menu is so great, changing with the seasons, always top quality brews from breweries far and near! Can't wait for warmer weather so we can go and enjoy the open air feeling of sitting in there with the front windows open!!

Right in our backyard! Such service! & the steak burger is to die for! The fries are delicious too! The only e have had is the burgers but they are so fantastic I haven't even wanted to try anything else yet. Not too yuppity but very good selection of beer & liquor. Can't say enough about the place

Declan's is like one of those nice neighborhood bars you so happily confide in during those random times. The only difference between this neighborhood bar, and your typical one, is that Declan's has one hell of a food menu that's vegan and carnivore friendly. On top of that, a good variety of beer. I had the fortunate chance to check this place out and try their veggie burger in the "HOTHOUSE" style, accompanied by the sweet potato fries. The burger itself was above satisfactory, but what really brought it on home was the flavorful combination of the spicy aioli, avocado, ghost pepper cheese, topped with a tomato. Not too spicy, as my threshold is at about a 7, and this was definitely manageable; 10 being what I can't fathom how others manage. The sweet potato fries are definitely a good choice btw. They were surprisingly exceptional, and had a nice flavor that wasn't lacking for your typical sweet potato fries that some average bar and grill might fare. All around it was a pleasant experience, and worth every penny. With 11 beers on tap, that rotate, and a hefty selection of those in bottles it's easy to say this is one swell establishment, with an equally swell staff.

Great bartender on Friday nights! Food is amazing, laid back ambiance, never crowded. Driving into the city for a quality burger and craft beer is so overrated. I'm glad this place is walking distance from my house. P.S. Please bring back the pork belly brussel sprouts!

Gaaaahd I'd been itching to try Declan's since it opened. I was a bit dismayed that their menu is quite pricey. But I do really enjoy Declan's atmosphere! There's parking on the street, but no parking lot--so be wary. The highlights of my meal were the excellent service during a Hawks game, live music, daily specials, laaaaarge beer selection! They also had a variety of meats to choose from for your burger. Love that some beers are served in mason jars too. The lowlights was the live music was scheduled during the game so the whole bar had to watch without commentary. The food my friends and I ordered was average and the poutine was especially subpar considering the cold cheese curds and brisket. Their entire menu is enticing but the appetizers are pricey. All in all, I'll be giving Declan's another try, but this was a mixed experience.

My girlfriend and I went last night for dinner and drinks. The service, food, and drinks were spot on. The wings we're good buffalo wings but the real winner was our fish and chips. The fish and the batter was perfectly cook. The bar tender was the only server so he was busy but he really knew what he was doing. Only complaint was the light were too dimmed. It was very hard to see. But other than that we found a nice new spot for us to go get drinks and food.

You have to try the steak sandwich at Declan's. It is so good. The bar tender Amber is awesome. So friendly and warm.

Unless they went on Restaurant Impossible and Robert Irvine tracked me down himself to come back for his revamped menu, I wouldn't think of coming back. Server/bartender on a Sunday didn't know anything about the menu. When asking if there was anything special or specific in the hot sauce aioli she answered, "it's spicy." Gee, thanks. Before that, when I met my friends there she asked what I wanted to drink. I said, "let me look at the menu and decide please." She said okay and then told me later she didn't have that drink. CLEARLY she didn't even hear me and wasn't listening. She also couldn't tell me if they had Oberon when asking about beers. When I asked for another beer she brought me the one my friend was drinking which was different from mine. My friend said she'd take the beer than the waitress told me she wouldn't charge me. Why not take it off my friends second beer and charge me because I originally asked for the second one? Chips w/ the appetizer were very greasy and stale tasting. Ordering food - told they were out of regular fries. When we all said we'd take sweet potato fries instead, she then informed us of the $1 up charge. Listed on the menu which is fine, but if you're out of regular fries I don't see why you wouldn't at least ask your boss (if he's not your BF/related) if you can waive the $1 up charge out of basic customer service because you don't have what we originally wanted. Food - had a burger with an egg and bacon (the Rise N Shine option), the egg was undercooked and cold. Asked for medium, definitely medium-well. Everyone's (4 people's) food was not cooked to what we ordered. Sweet potato fries were VERY OVERCOOKED AND GROSS. No wonder w waited so long for our food, it was all being burnt when we were the only table in the restaurant with food. Guess the chef/whoever cooked sat on their phone or has no idea what the hell they're doing. The bartender obviously wasn't new because she said to someone when they walked in, "have seen you in a while." Yet, she still didn't know basic menu questions or much about it. Just to add to the humor of this awful experience, it took her forever to get our separate checks. Don't go!!!

A simple, clean, classy establishment with great food options and great people. Enjoyed having the option of turkey, chicken, beef, grass fed, or bison patty for burger entrees. Our bartender was great and it beat having to drive over to Madison street to find a similar experience. A simple sports bar without the obnoxious crowds in Elmwood Park, who knew?

My husband and I have been here several times. I would have given them 4 or 5 stars before but something has changed. We have taken several friends back but this last time we were semi-embarassed that we talked up the place only to be disappointed. First off the server was unprofessional in the way she dressed and interacted. She took forever to take our order for our food. She checked in frequently but then her shift must have ended because she asked us several times if we were done. Then another "server" comes in half dressed and also looking very unprofessional. I get the girls are also bartenders and certain attire is encouraged but in this case it is just tasteless. Anyway, this server also asked us several times if we were done. We felt rushed out. Burger was ok but over priced. Atmosphere was tacky which I don't think it's what they're going for.

BURGERS ARE CRAZY GOOD! Definitely worthy of a Chicagoland top 5 by all standards! Burgers come super plump - they don't look weak and small, they're juicy and full of massive flavor! You can choose a burger in a variety of meats - grass fed beef/bison/turkey/veggie - sooooo good! You won't be dissapointed!

I'll go 3 stars only because 2.5 is not an option. First time here for me and I am less than impressed, there were 12 people in the whole place, they have 4 TV's over the bar, none anywhere else, no local games on when we were there even though the Cubs game had started. Music was too loud and at times I couldn't hear what my wife said. Appetizer was the pretzels with cheese and mustard dipping sauces, very good. My wife ordered the Angus Bleu Burger which she enjoyed, I ordered the Angus burger and it was good, food here is worth it, but as far as service goes there is a lot of improvement to be done.

My gf and i really enjoy coming here very much. We usually stop by here on Saturday or Sunday because we work late during the week. Very respectable craft beer selection for whatever mood your in and Nicole who works on Sundays makes fantastic martinis according to my gf. The food never disappoints thanks to Raphael. Great steak sandwich and burgers! They always feature a burger of the month special in addition to drink specials every day. Overall this is a very comfortable and clean place where my gf and i can grab a bite to eat and have a few drinks. The clientele as far as when we go, is laid back. No pretentious craft beer snobs, no ghetto thugs, no loud high maintenence princesses just real people from the neighborhood looking for a good time and a decent meal. Thumbs up to the staff on Sundays, that includes you too Angie for helping to ease the reality that Monday is right around the corner and the start of another work week is about to start. Thank you!

So happy to find a nice little local bar. Declan's is quaint, not very busy, with great decor. The TVs are huge and it's a great place to watch a game. We came here on a Thursday night and I was impressed. You can tell they don't have a big following yet- it wasn't very busy and they just had one bartender/waitress and one guy in the kitchen. That setup made things run a bit slow. The staff were all really nice just stretched thin. The food was awesome. Their menu is perfect. Not too big but more than enough options. The burgers are a good size and delicious. The prices are a bit high considering its elmwood park but honestly the food is worth it. Cold beer, good burgers, and the game on. Perfect setting for a local neighborhood bar. We'll definitely be back.

So upon Yelp recommendations.. And we were in the area, my friend and I stopped in for drinks and watch the Playoff game.... Place was empty.. But wasn't sure if they get a Sunday crowd or not.... Asked for some cheese curds, but from what we were told by the bartender Sara, they had a busy Saturday night and we're out, also ran out of their salsa, or Pico de gallo. They had a nice beer selection, but stuck with what I knew since the bartender wasn't super knowledgeable on what beers were different. The chips for the guac and Pico were greasy, and only a few on the plate... Not super impressed with this place.. Maybe they have their stuff together on busy weekend nights, but Sundays seem limited to whatever is left for food. If u wanna check out the beer selection, give them a try... Can't judge that part.

I happen to love this place. It has a great city feel, but is right in my backyard. The food is really excellent, the beer choices are great, and the staff is super friendly. They have now added a great kids menu, and my kids love the cheese curds! They also have some great root beer beers that were recommended to us and were very tasty. I recommend this place to everyone. Great jukebox too!

Only reason I even gave them ONE star was Because their beer list looked amazing. Walked in last night to watch the final period of the hawks game, place was dead ok no problem. Blonde Girl standing behind the bar didn't say hi, didn't even acknowledge us even after we sat down. So after about 2 mins of no one coming around, I stood up and loudly said to my bf "do we have to get our own drinks here?" There were literally 4 people in the bar including my bf and I. He went to the bar got us two drinks, they did come in cute little mason jars so that was a nice touch. The decor is very cool. I may have stayed and tried another beer had the place felt a little more inviting but the bartender never said a word to us after we got our drinks and never came by to see if we wanted more. I'll give this place another shot.

We ate here a week ago, for my husband's birthday dinner. We are new to the neighborhood and a bit out of our element in the burbs (having lived in the city for 14 years!) We were excited to see a place like Declan's exists in Elmwood Park, as we plan to be here for awhile and need places with good food and beer to spend our money :) We each had a burger which was delicious, and the pretzel which was so good-that cheese is delicious! The fries were good, the beer was cold, there is really nothing wrong with this place :) I hope to come back many more times and meet the owners, as they seem like people we would be friends with due to their great taste in beer and food :) Thanks!

The waitress was nice, but the patrons at the bar were extremely drunk and unruly. I am not sure if I will be back because I wanted to catch up with a friend over a beer; instead I had to talk over guys swearing at each other at the top of their lungs.

I absolutely love this place. With the craft beer (on tap and in the cooler) and grass fed burgers, it feels a little out of place in the neighborhood-- although its a VERY welcome addition! Prices are higher than most places in the area, but the quality of the ingredients are well worth it. So far, the chipotle wings and bison burger are my favorites. Oh, and they are open for lunch!

Nice place, clean, not too crowded, not too loud, friendly staff, good beer selection, drink specials, food specials. We shared the cod fish and chips, and had two beers each. The food and beers were average to above average.

Came here for lunch with a friend. First of all the bar itself is big spacious and well lit with windows so it isnt a dark bar. There was a chalk board with both food and drink specials. I ordered the chicken pot pie and my friend had a hamburger. But first we had appetizers. We shared some fried pickles which I never had before. They were excellent and also had the Amish fries. They were good also. Everything was tasty and satisfying. We both had ciders.. my friend had the crispin and I had the Irish cider. No complaints there. I really was happy with my experience at this bar. I will definitely be coming back. The quality of food was excellent.

My wife and I decided to ride our bikes to Declan's and check it out. We heard some good things about it, and fortunately they were all correct. Terrific fish tacos and strong beer selection are the two things that jump out. In addition, the bartender was very nice and helpful. It is certainly a place to check out if you live in the area.

Woooohooooo!! So, so, so, sooooooo beyond happy to see this place open up in our neighborhood! Good food, great beer, tons of TV with the sound on to watch sports - oh, my!!! We just bought a house in Elmwood Park and went to check out the area. We stopped at Declan's for a beer and a burger. The waitstaff and chef were very friendly, they had a wide selection of craft beers and the burger was one of the best I ever had.

We LOVE this place!!! Everything is perfectly prepared, fresh and delish!!! We just had our daughter's Engagement Party there and it could not have been more perfect!! They accommodated our 50 guests with a full staff, of courteous, attentive, hard-working bartenders, and servers... The Chef prepared everything we had pre-selected from the menu and each plate was visually mouth-watering, fresh, hot and delectable !!! They had prepared the space with subtle elegance with white plates and beautiful cloth napkins, and real glassware for all drinks / definitely a step up from having such a party at just any bar and using paper plates, paper napkins and plastic cups!!! We would highly recommend this venue for lunch, brunch, dinner or a private party! Great food / great staff / great looking space !

It's nice inside, but it doesn't have a following yet. It's empty most of the time. There is no atmosphere. Prices are high considering it's Elmwood Park, and they don't have any of your well known ciders, and the ciders they do have are not good. Also the $20 minimum for using a card is high!

What a phenomenal place to have in our neighborhood!! Declan's has an extensive and very good craft beer selection. I think I had one of the best beers there of my life there the other night!! And the servers know their drinks and are very friendly and attentive. We also had the opportunity to meet Darlene the owner who was very nice and welcoming. I had the chicken and waffles which came sandwich style and it was literally perfection with every bite!! So yummy! My date had the stand by burger which was delicious too. I have read that they have a good kids menu and I would like to bring my little ones back but not sure how well that would go. The overall feel was more pub/bar to be kid and family friendly. However this could easily be solved by adding a few low top tables to either the back or front to make it have more of a restaurant type feel. That being said Declan's is so good I'm not knocking any stars off for that but hoping maybe they take some advice to entice more neighborhood families to come in because I could get used to visiting here. Also seems like a wonderful place and very popular for parties.

The fish tacos here are amazing! Great taste, not tilapia! I've been here many times...great place to watch sports - baseball and hockey so far. They have a really good beer selection and the staff is very friendly.

Great beer list and fantastic food - the burgers are excellent! I was really impressed the the crativity on the menu. For sure our go-to place for a casual night out and watching sports! Love it!

Awesome place with great food and friendly staff. Best burgers in the Chicagoland area hands down. Don't pass up an order or cheese curds - to die for!

It's nice inside, but it doesn't have a following yet. It's empty most of the time. There is no atmosphere. Prices are high considering it's Elmwood Park, and they don't have any of your well known ciders, and the ciders they do have are not good. Also the $20 minimum for using a card is high!

Love this place! Great food and craft beer selection, even for the most discerning diners! Sophisticated food for a bar and grill at a decent price. It's just what this neighborhood needed!
